From Eora/Sydney, Airline are four friends who treat music as a sanctuary and an excuse to hang out. Their sound drifts between blown-out heaviness and weightless atmosphere, relying on space and texture to create moments of introspection. Drawing heavily on shoegaze, post-hardcore, and emo, folk, and metal, there’s a strong emphasis on dynamics. Softer sections are spacious, ambient and intimate. Heavy sections are loud, expansive and all encompassing. Often the two collide and distorted heavy sections smother soft and plaintive melodies forcing the listener to try to peak through the fog and make sense of something formless within it. The result is raw and honest, you’re either pulled in or pushed away.
