Shakamoto are an Australian based post-psych punk act, consisting of drummer Aiden Knight, bassist Callum Finlay and dual vocalists/guitarists Hamish Kettley and Orlando Bards.
Forging their own place in Sydney’s thriving current wave of post-punk, their often frantic, sweat drenched, yet tightly wound live shows, encapsulates their eclectic and distinct contrast between blistering riffage and evocative soundscapes, mutating influences from prior decades of post-punk and psych rock. Adjacent to unapologetic vocals, and lyrics fostered from the deepest depths of their imaginations, the intrepid foursome have fans questioning their maturity whilst recognising their profundity of our growingly dystopian modern world.
Their latest single ‘Parasitic Reptilic’ is as gritting as it is uncompromising, marking a bold statement of repugnance and outrage at the oppressive and corrupt powers within our society. It’s no doubt Shakamoto are a rising force to watch for, as they continue their journey through the contemporary world of music.
