City Calm Down

City Calm Down is a four-piece alternative pop band from Melbourne, Australia, comprising Jack Bourke on vocals and guitar, Sam Mullaly on keyboards/synthesisers, Jeremy Sonnenberg on bass guitar and Lee Armstrong on drums. In 2010 the band released its debut self-titled EP, which they produced and recorded themselves. This was followed by a double A-side release in early 2012, which saw the band sign with I Oh You records and release a second EP ‘Movements’ in late-2012. Since then, the band have toured with Alt-J, Chvrches and Bombay Bicycle Club and in November 2015 released their debut album ‘In A Restless House’. The album features 11 songs that focus broadly on the anxiety of modern life.

In A Restless House landed triple j’s Feature Album and scored praise from the likes of NME and Apple’s Beats 1 (who spun singles ‘Rabbit Run’ and ‘Son’)

“Their anthem-like instrumentation completely floods the space they inhabit … this band are as compelling to watch as they are to listen to.” – Musicfeeds

They were recently highlighted by NME as one of THE bands to check out at Brighton’s The Great Escape, enjoying a set at Liverpool Sound City and selling out London headline shows. In Australia, City Calm Down’s album tour saw thousands of tickets quickly snapped up across 10 sold-out dates. In September they will embark upon their biggest tour to date, hitting up 1000+ capacity venues like Sydney’s Metro Theatre and 170 Russell in Melbourne.
